Scholars: High Point High School

This school year I'm proud of myself for getting my grades up this fourth quarter and getting along with some of my teachers. Staying sober has helped me with cooperating with my mom and the people that support me.

From the damage they did to me, I am rising stronger—turning pain into purpose, finding space to heal, stay motivated, and chase my goals.

School this year was an emotional roller coaster, but the program helped me through it. I even invited a friend—we did cool activities, learned about the dangers of drugs, and I’m proud to say I’ve cut back on my substance use.

At the beginning of the school year, I wasn’t going to class and was using nicotine—but now I’m showing up, doing the right thing, and I’ve stopped using. I’m proud of how far I’ve come.

The moment I felt safe enough to talk about my past trauma was life- changing. Over time, as I slowly learned how to cope, I began to feel better about myself. Now, I feel safer, more open, and more confident than I ever have before.

Higher Heightz has had a big impact on me. It’s not just a program—it’s a space where I’ve been supported in facing my trauma and learning how to heal. They helped me find my voice and gave me tools to cope in healthy ways. As I look ahead, my hope and intention for the next chapter is to continue growing and work on improving my relationships with my family.

The HH program is a supportive program which has had a positive impact on High Point scholars. We have helped the students reinforce their self-worth and strengths and I am excited about your return to the school for the upcoming academic year.

So happy to have the HH program in the school working with the wellness team as an integral part of the community contractors’ program. Please stay!

HH has been proactive, visible and approachable by the students. We have been present to all students by setting up lunch tables for prevention and I would want for that approach to continue to be a success.

One of our students was struggling with daily marijuana use and had multiple suspensions because of it. After being referred to Higher Heightz, he began attending weekly sessions and opened during group. Over time, his behavior improved, and he started showing up to class more often. By the end of the semester, he was off suspension, more focused, and even helped another student who was dealing with similar issues. The support from Higher Heightz truly gave him a chance to reset.

J. F. has always had a strong voice — she just didn’t always believe it was worth hearing. Over time, with support from Higher Heightz, I watched her grow more confident in herself and her ideas. She started participating with intention, writing with more honesty, and no longer shying away from standing out. Her self-esteem didn’t just improve — it showed up in everything she did.

At the beginning of the year, I was behind bars in jail. I felt like my situation was unredeemable. I was filled with grief, guilt, anxiety, and a plethora of other emotions. However, I the decision to finish high school and learn from my mistakes. The Hyacinth Wellness Program helped me to stop smoking completely. I graduated with my diploma this past school year and I plan to go to college as well. The Hyacinth Wellness program gave me hope to move forward and see beyond my mistakes.
